Race Day!

The first thing I thought when the alarm went off at 4:30 this morning? Practice at 9pm is gonna be rough.. this morning was the Bolder Boulder, which went awesome. Then this afternoon I got a delicious massage. Practice actually wasn’t too bad, although some sprints and quick stops/cuts near the end twinged my inner thigh a bit :-/


  • almond butter and banana on healthy grain toast, raspberries
  • tea: blended ginger peach, seattle chai, yerba mate
  • vega sport performance optimizer
  • bazi energy shot
  • granola bar
  • coffee with cream
  • smoothie
  • Whole food buffet – no tofu, plenty of beans and veggies, plus pita chips and guac
  • coconut water
  • kombucha. They were regular $3, on for 99c, AND two for one. I know why. I only drank about a third of it
  • sushi
  • mango ginger tofu* with bean thread noodles and steamed brussel sprouts
  • grapes
  • larabar


  • Bolder Boulder 10K – set another PR 🙂
  • TRX – 30 atomic pushups
  • 2 hrs roller derby

  • of course, with substitutions:
    2 teaspoons peanut oil or veg oil – I used sunflower
    1/4 cup pure maple syrup – I used brown rice syrup, then afterwards remembered I’d planned to use coconut nectar 🙁
    1 cup white cooking wine (or vegetable broth) – I used mirin ( rice wine)
    fresh black pepper to taste – NEVER!
    1/4 teaspoon allspice – I used garam masala
    2 tablespoon rice vinegar (use apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar if you dont have rice) – I used plum wine vinegar
    And, I had no peppers :-/
